Pursuit of Happiness
I completed my May training challenge this afternoon. I had set a goal of completing 16 triple F training sessions for the month of May. The Fs stand for: fast, focused, and fresh.
Fast because I wanted to be able to complete these sessions in under 30minutes. Check.
Focused because I wanted to do one set of each exercise and make each rep count. Check.
Fresh because I wanted to do something that I hadn’t done before. Check.
The trainng session consisted of the following.
- Swing my indian clubs for the length of a song. I ended up creating a routine and basically sticking to it after the second session. It took about 5 minutes to complete. I changed this up because I was either listening to a podcast or doing my session while the kids were playing in the backyard.
- 2 x 10secs copenhagen side plank on my right leg, and 1 x 10secs copenhangen side plank on my left leg.
- 5x goblet squat
- 5x goblet hold split squat
- 5x goblet hold lateral squat
- 5x deadlift which at the half way point changed to 5x single leg deadlift
- 5x stop and go two handed swing
- 5x two handed swing
- 10x two handed swing
- 5x one handed swing
- 5x one handed swing, clean, press
I did 4 sessions using a 20kg kettlebell. I did 6 sessions using a 24kg kettlebell. I did 6 sessions using a 28kg kettlebell.
The total weight lifted for each exercise is:
- Goblet squat (80reps) = 1960kg
- Goblet hold split squat (80reps per leg) = 1960kg per leg
- Goblet hold lateral squat (80reps per leg) = 1960kg per leg
- KB deadlift (40reps) = 880kg
- Single leg deadlift (40reps per leg) = 1080kg per leg
- All two handed swings (320reps) = 7840kg
- All single arm swings (160reps per arm)= 3920kg per arm
- Cleans (80reps per arm) = 1960kg per arm
- Presses (80reps per arm) = 1960kg per arm
- Total weight moved for the month of May = 36360kg (1480 reps)
I have yet to decide what I will challenge myself with in June. I don’t want to lose steam with any of the progress I made in the lower body lifts. I want to add more swings in and need to imrpove my press.
